Team Description

The Procurement Team is responsible for sourcing and purchasing all of the food that is sold to our customers by working closely with distributors like Black River Produce, NPC, and local farmers/producers. This team is always on the lookout for prosperous partnerships while consistently managing and improving our current local accounts through frequent communication. If you are interesting in learning more about and engage directly with the Addison County food system, enjoy making connections with farmers, and get stoked on buying thousands of pounds of food each month, procurement is for you.

 

Open Positions

Local Accounts Coordinator

  • Maintains relationships with local accounts through close communication throughout the month and by placing timely orders during delivery week
  • Hunts for new partners with passion and persuades producers and distributors to buy into the MF philosophy beyond a simple business transaction
  • Works closely Communications and Community Access Teams in order to effectively disseminate product information  

Qualifications:

  • Eagerness to engage, negotiate, and strike a deal with local farmers and producers
  • Attentive, open, and straightforward communicator
  • Organization -- essential to keeping lots of moving parts in order
  • Ownership, or easy access to, a car for farm visits  

Expectations:

  • Hours:
    • Week before delivery: 5-6 hours
    • Week after delivery: 2-3 hours
    • All other times: ~1 hour/week (plus visits)
    • Weekly meeting with the team to discuss progress and establish new goals
    • Attendance at at least one packing session and one delivery per mont

 

Product Designer

  • Creates diverse, healthy, and financially sound bag contents sourced from Black River Produce and local farmers
  • Works intimately with BRP to include native, seasonal, and discounted produce and place orders on a monthly basis
  • Manages the NPC Processing account by placing timely and accurate meat orders on a monthly basis

Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable about foreign and domestic produce seasonality
  • Creativity in designing both appealing and affordable produce bags
  • Organization -- essential to keeping lots of moving parts in order

Expectations:

  • Hours:
    • Week before delivery: 3-4 hours
    • Week after delivery: 1-2 hours
    • All other times: ~1 hour/week (visits with Local Accounts Coordinator)
    • Weekly meeting with the team to discuss progress and establish new goals
    • Attendance at at least one packing session and one delivery per month
